Christ, from the Greek word 'Christos', means anointed, corresponding to the Hebrew 'Messiah'. This implies Jesus' kingship and His fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies.


Next, we encounter Jesus referred to as Emmanuel in the Gospel of Matthew. Emmanuel, a Hebrew term meaning God with us, is indicative of Jesus' divine nature, highlighting His role as the human embodiment of God's presence amongst us. In the Book of Revelation, Jesus is described as the Alpha and Omega, the first and the last letters of the Greek alphabet. It symbolizes the eternal nature of Christ, existing from the beginning to the end of time, and underscores His omnipresence and omnipotence. 

 In the Gospel of John, Jesus identifies Himself as the Bread of Life. This title illuminates His promise of eternal life and fulfillment to those who follow Him.

Furthermore, Jesus is also called the Good Shepherd. As a shepherd, Jesus watches over and cares for His people, seeking out the lost and guiding them back to the path of righteousness. This analogy evokes a strong image of Jesus’ love, concern, and dedication towards humanity. Finally, the Bible identifies Jesus as the Light of the World. As light, Jesus removes spiritual darkness and leads mankind to truth. This name is an emphatic reminder of the transformational impact Jesus has on the lives of His followers. The names of Jesus in the Bible convey different facets of His character and role. Each title reveals the complexity and depth of His identity, drawing us into a closer relationship with Him.
