The Role of Angels in the Biblical Narrative

  Angels have played a profound and important role in the Bible's grand narrative, being influential and guiding characters that relay God’s messages, protect believers, carry out God's will, and sometimes even discipline. From the earliest books of the Bible to the apocalypse visions in the Book of Revelation, angels are consistently present, demonstrating the essential functions they fulfill in Biblical teachings.   First, it's essential to understand what an angel is. The word angel derives from the Greek word angelos, meaning 'messenger.' In both Old and New Testaments, angels were spiritual beings created by God to serve him. They are depicted as benevolent beings, though they are not divine and should not be worshipped. Angels acted as messengers throughout the Bible.
